Training and Support

How SUBWAY® trains and supports you

The SUBWAY chain offers full support and training at the beginning of the relationship and on an ongoing basis.

A key factor in SUBWAY’s success is the strong support network it has. SUBWAY uses Regional Developers in Ireland to assist with the opening and development of SUBWAY franchises. These Regional Directors often have several stores of their own and so have considerable experience when it comes to launching and running SUBWAY stores. They will assist and mentor with site selection, leasing, design, construction, training, purchasing, operations, advertising, local marketing and more.

SUBWAY has also developed a comprehensive training programme that requires franchisees to attend an intensive two-week training course.

Finance

How much does a SUBWAY franchise cost?

Compared to franchises of a similar size and stature, SUBWAY’s start-up costs are competitively low. The franchise fee of €10,000 is one of the lowest on the market, despite the size of the chain and in some cases a SUBWAY franchise can be opened for as little as €115,000.

Please note however that the total initial investment will depend on factors such as location, rent, outlet size and equipment.

The franchise agreement is for 20 years and renewable for 20 years (subject to terms and conditions).

As with many franchises, an important factor is raising the funds to finance your investment. A good arrangement is to have 50% of the total capital requirement available in cash and sufficient collateral available to obtain funding for the balance of the investment.

Royalties and fees paid are based on gross sales minus sales tax. The royalties are 8% to the SUBWAY chain, with a further 4.5% advertising fee which is paid to the “International Franchisee Advertising Fund” (IFAF).
