Aspray franchise brings flexibility
Why did you go down the franchise route? And why did you choose Aspray franchise?
Franchising appealed to me as because you are buying a tried and tested business with everything set up for you, it meant that I could start trading from day 1 . I also felt I was suited to Aspray as I have a building background.
What did you do before taking up your Aspray franchise?
I ran a small building company specialising in sun room extensions.
How did you raise the finance?
I raised the finance through Ulster bank.
What training and support did you receive initially and ongoing?
Initially I was trained on the use of the software system we use to quote for repair works and organise our schedule.
What is a typical day for you as a franchisee?
A typical day begins on site at 8am. I tend to project manage several repair jobs myself at the same time so in-between new appointments I would project manage and schedule tradesmen on my jobs. I usually spend between two and four hours a day in the my home office. I enjoy the flexibility of my days as I can schedule my day around anything else I may want to do.
What challenges have you faced?
The biggest challenge is meeting the managing clients’ expectations and dealing with Insurance companies.
Has becoming a franchisee changed your life, if so how?
Yes, it has opened my eyes up to an industry I didn’t really realise existed, one with many opportunities.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of buying their first franchise?
Research, research, research. Speak to as many people as possible including family and friends. Don’t take any of their comments personally and don’t let your emotions make your final decision.
What are your plans for the future?
Even in these difficult times we are performing well. I want to continue to grow my business year on year.
Would you do it again?
