More than just Punch & Judy with a Kids Party franchise
Name: Sean Galligan
Franchise: Kids Party Club
Why I chose franchising
I chose franchising because I wanted to get involved with a business idea which already had being up and running for some time and had proven to have a successful formula.
What I did before taking up a franchise
I used to run a small farm for many years. I also worked in local radio in the pirate era of the nineteen eighties. When I completed the ECDL computer literacy course successfully, I worked in admin office work for a period.
How I raised the finance
Luckily I had invested some funds in forestry growth funds in the past so I used the sale of these funds to purchase the franchise and also a van to use in the business.
The challenges I have faced
Puppet shows are a new idea in my area for children’s entertainment so people are unsure what to expect as many think of the old Punch and Judy shows of the past when you mention puppetry. Its takes time to get the word out about a new business so you have to get out there visiting crèches and schools and putting up posters and distributing flyers. Word of mouth is probably the best form of advertising so it takes time, patience and hard work to grow the business.
My advice to someone thinking of buying their first franchise
My advice would be to thoroughly research the franchise and get advice from others who are already operating the franchise before making a commitment. Be prepared to work hard to get the word out about your new enterprise.
My Plans for the future
My plans would be to grow the business so as to have a busy schedule of shows each week and have parties in every area of Cavan and Monaghan. To have the Kids Party Club name well known for providing professional children’s entertainment in Cavan and Monaghan.
